M.S. SERIES 500: Microminiaturization process, 1979

M.S. SERIES 500: Microminiaturization process consists of nine collagraph prints, combined with gel medium reliefs, on Arches paper. The central image of each print evokes a mug shot—thus the M.S. in the title—either frontal or in profile, with stitched thread serving as both line and frame.  At times the sewn line serves as additional visual language for the image. Gel medium reliefs from inked etching plates are sewn onto the prints and enclosed in stitched plastic sleeves.
