Large leaf-like sprayed abaca and cotton forms, embedded with plastic hoses, connect to blower boxes or to the floor. The boxes contain squirrel cage blowers, operated by a microcontroller that rhythmically gives movement to the forms, evoking plant life. Multiple video projections add dimension, shifting color, casting shadows upon walls and forms and even the viewer, who becomes an integral part of the piece. Ocean sound is layered in, mixing with the audible “breathing” of the blowers. Interior glow from LED lighting adds to the overall effect.

What is it about? Shifts of reality, what is reality?
“… we cannot live the afternoon of life according to the program of life's morning, for what was great in the morning will be little at evening and what in the morning was true, at evening will have become a lie.” ~Carl Jung, Modern Man in Search of a Soul

In this installation, I am dealing with growth, change and impermanence. Its layers and shifts of reality feel a little bit like the world we are living in right now—a world that is so contradictory and with such diverse views—politics, war, climate change, etc. and then the great pleasure of getting to be part of it all.
